Seek, Find and Shine

When Karina Ladet asked me to be a part of her blog tour I knew I would say yes simply because of the fabulous person she is but I was also very drawn to the name of her event:  “Shine your Light”.  I couldn’t help but think of Marianne Williamson’s gorgeous quote about shining your light, it is one of my all-time favorite motivational quotes and one of the lines that touches me the most is one that I have based much of my life on:“And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.”Interestingly though, I had never noticed the word “unconsciously” until I was getting ready to do this blog post.

Perhaps it is thanks to this beautifully inspiring quote but a part of me feels that I have always “consciously” wanted to help others shine their light by shining mine.  For a while I have to admit that I thought I was helping others shine their light more brightly by putting my own on a dimmer switch but I came to realize that I can actually be of more benefit to the world by showing up and being the very best version of me at every moment.  Can you relate to this?

As I began to understand that I needed to fully show up to help the most, I came to another realization, that though some may consider it a fault, I don’t,  I am competition adverse.  I will choose collaboration over competition every day.  Competition seems to say there has to be a “winner” which in turn means there has to be a “loser”.  As a recent Facebook post so perfectly proclaimed:  I am not interested in competition, I hope we all win.  Now of course there are lessons to be learned in competitive situations but on the whole I find it much more enriching, and challenging at a whole other level, when we come together in our endeavors.

This is why I so deeply believe there is great power, healing and support in community.  Whenever we can find people who actually “get us”, who can understand at least a few of the quirky things about us, we begin to realize that perhaps we are not alone after all.  Being rebellious, eccentric and a round peg in a world of square holes is magnificent but even the most rebellious amongst us needs to feel a sense of belonging, or a part of something bigger every once in a while.

This is why it is so essential to find what that light is that you were meant to shine.  Do you know what makes you special?  Do you know what makes you beyond compare?  Unfortunately, the answer that may first come to mind is “there is nothing special about me” because this is the message that those negative voices in your head may want you to believe, but I can absolutely promise you that is not true.  Simply being here, being born, winning at the race to get to this crazy place called Earth makes you one in a million.

So SEEK that unique part of you that you love, that you embrace, and magnify it.  Shine your light so brightly that your tribe can’t help but FIND you, or you to FIND them.  You have gifts to share and wisdom to impart so make it your mission to find the people who can relate to you turned up to 100%.  Get the support, the feedback and the wisdom from those who speak your language and then begin to SHINE your light in your own unique way, so brightly that those who need you most will begin to see at least a glimmer of hope in what you have to share.

Seek + Find + Shine = Bliss

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us, it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” – Marianne Williamson
